Overall Purpose of Role:

We are embarking on ambitious growth plans and require an ambitious individual to join our Payments team as a Database Developer. It is imperative that the candidate is able to work within a dynamic, fast paced and leading-edge technological environment where consistent delivery of results is paramount to business success.



Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

  • This role will cover the full systems analysis spectrum, which includes:
  • Systems analysis
  •  Functional scoping
  • Process mapping
  • Technical specifications and design
  • Interactions with the systems developer and tester functions throughout the product development lifecycle
  • User test planning.
  • In addition to the above, the role involves analyzing, documenting and proposing solutions, and managing any change requests


Additional tasks will include:

  • Design, develop & maintain a large suite of Business Objects reports
  • Creation, optimization, and scheduling of stored procedures and ETL routines
  • Maintenance and optimization of a production database environment
  • Assist in requirements clarification and source system database analysis
  • Preparation of typical data warehouse documentation (data dictionary, source to target mappings)


Skills/ Experience Required:

  • 2+ years of Business Objects development
  • Must have expert knowledge of TSQL and MSSQL (1+ years TSQL and MSSQL)
  • Additional experience of other relational database technologies (Oracle / DB2 / MYSQL) will be considered
  • Experience in the full development life cycle of an enterprise data warehouse/mart, adhering to star-schema design principles.
  • The candidate will ideally understand and be experienced in developing SQL and T-SQL in a business intelligence / data warehouse environment
  • Candidate must also possess an understanding of Data Warehouse / Data Mart ETL principles and best practice using Microsoft SQLServer2005
  • Experience working with large volumes of data in an incremental data extraction and process environment is essential. Working knowledge of at least one mainstream BI reporting tool (i.e. Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion) essential
  • The candidate will have 2 years commercial experience in a similar role and be able to work on his/her own initiative (within a small team) to develop new data extraction / process routines and extend existing routines within an integrated process framework
  • Experience delivering business intelligence reports working in an agile development   environment
  • Ability to write and understand complex SQL queries
  • Ability to develop stored procedures and routines that perform well on large volumes of data
  • Performance Tuning – Index Creation and Optimization
  • Unit /System Testing and Data Auditing/Validation
  • A systematic approach to development and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.


 Additional skills that are a plus:

  • A knowledge of Poker and the online gaming industry
  • Experience using data modeling tools (i.e. Erwin, Visio)
  • Experience using an “industry strength” packaged ETL tool (i.e. SQL Server Integration Services)
  • Familiarity with a Change Management tool, preferably Accurev
